Sacramento Area Youth Speaks (SAYS) is a social justice movement that empowers youth and transforms education by creating platforms for critical literacy, access to higher education, youth voice and civic engagement. SAYS elevates the voices of students as the authors of their own lives and agents of change.

SAYS In-Class Residency
SAYS utilizes evidence-based best practices to narrow the achievement gap and improve schools through our year-long residency.
SAYS Youth Poetry Team
Each year, hundreds of Sacramento area students compete in local youth poetry competitions, or slams; ultimately, to create SAYS Slam Team. SAYS compete at the International Brave New Voices competition. All area students ages 13–19 are encouraged to compete.
SAYS Summit College Day
The annual SAYS Summit is a finale to our year-round programming in the schools. Hundreds of young people from different regions, schools, and economic and ethnic backgrounds come together, learn together, and celebrate each other.
